When I arrived in Canada, I knew I had to work hard and change my mindset completely.

I knew I would have to eat humble pie and start again.

I understood that unwritten rules applied to immigrants.

I just didn't imagine having to do all of that in a post-Covid world which saw the cost of living in Canada at its peak, along with deafening silence from the white-collar employers who were 'supposed to' want my international talent.

So, I did what any good South African does.

I sucked. it. up.

I threw the dice.

Then I learned the rules.

I networked my heart out.

And I landed an oh-so-coveted white collar job without having to flip burgers, drive an Uber, or serve coffee at Timmy's.

Supporting people to find and amplify their voice is something I've always resonated with.

And the lived reality of once being a job seeker in Canada sealed the deal for me.

Over my long international career (with many pivots), I've 'done' everything from academia to corporations to NGOs and NPOs to small businesses, and been a business owner myself.

Now I use that expertise to get tech professionals - regardless of their backgrounds - hired.
